IMW Meet and Safety Seminar, Bangladesh

IMW Industries Ltd. hosted its first annual IMW Customer Meet at the Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka, Bangladesh on June 23, 2008. Over 225 IMW customers and friends were in attendance on this prestigious evening. In attendance from Canada was IMW President, Brad Miller, along with IMW Sales Director for South Asia, Mr. David Gamble, and IMW Global Service Director, Mr. Kevin Nerling. IMW Sales Representative for Bangladesh, GETCO, was represented by Mr. K.M. Khaled, Managing Director, Mr. Dewan Sayeed, Director, and Mr. Shafquat Alam, General Manager. The IMW service team from IMW CNG Bangladesh Ltd, a wholly owned service company of IMW Canada, was in attendance as well. The presentations, dinner, and live music were a nice occasion to meet with our valued customers and to share our experience together as part of the IMW family.

On June 24, 2008, IMW sponsored a seminar on CNG cylinders which featured presenter Mr. Bernie James, a recognized CNG cylinder safety expert from Canada at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka. Mr. James arrived to Bangladesh soon after receiving the international natural gas vehicle (NGV) Champion award on June 5, 2008, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the IANGV conference (International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles).

IMW, one of the top Canadian Exporters to Bangladesh, has been active in Bangladesh since 2002, and has delivered over sixty-five complete CNG stations to Bangladesh to-date. IMW CNG Bangladesh Ltd. is a service company with head office in Dhaka and a branch office in Feni. A second branch office will be opened in Sylhet later this year. IMW is continuing to invest in inventory and additional factory trained personnel for the Bangladesh market.

In countries around the world, IMW products are used to fuel vehicles with clean-burning CNG, as well as to supply natural gas for industrial users not serviced by pipelines, via bulk gas transportation systems (virtual pipelines).

The use of CNG in natural gas vehicles (NGVs) reduces greenhouse gases (GHG) from emissions by approximately 25% compared to gasoline or diesel. IMW systems in use worldwide offset more than one million tonnes of GHG annually, and ongoing equipment production will further increase offsets by another 400,000 tonnes each year.

In addition to the environmental benefits, the cost of CNG is typically 40 to 50% less than gas or diesel, when compared by energy content. This makes fuelling more affordable, especially for high-mileage users like taxis, buses, and delivery vehicles.

In developing nations, where dependence on public transportation and high population densities make air quality a critical health issue, CNG is seen as the most favourable alternative fuel that is available, viable, and economically feasible.
