IMW Named 2009 Exporter of the Year
IMW is named as British Columbia's 2009 Exporter of the Year, as well as BC Export Award winner in the Manufactured Products category. Many thanks to Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) and KPMG for your nominations.
Vancouver, BC - October 30, 2009
Despite a tough year, dealing with a slow global economy and a rising Canadian dollar, IMW Industries was named BC Export Award’s 2009 Exporter of the Year. At a time when the Canadian manufacturing industry is struggling, IMW’s clean technology expertise and ongoing success in the global CNG marketplace has earned it top recognition among its peers.
This is not the first time IMW has been acknowledged for business excellence. In 2004 and 2007 they received the BC Export Award in the Manufactured Products category. This year, they took the manufacturing award again as well as the overall title Exporter of the Year.
“It’s very gratifying to be recognized this way,” said IMW sales and business development manager Steve Steinebach. “We’ve all been working hard and we had our fingers crossed.”
IMW’s success comes mainly from the supply of CNG systems to fuelling station operators and commercial fleets across more than 25 countries worldwide. Recently, they signed an agreement with China Gas to build 120 large-scale CNG stations, using their specialized non-lubricated compressor systems.
IMW systems provide clean, low-cost compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicle and industrial operators, allowing them to drastically reduce fuel costs and cut carbon emissions by 25% or more. IMW’s manufacturing expertise and technology leadership in the growing clean tech industry have consistently made them a global leader in CNG equipment sales.
They have also undertaken manufacturing of hydrogen fuel cell assemblies for United Technologies Corporation (UTC), thereby extending their range of clean tech services. In fact, it was in the “clean tech” category that company owner Brad Miller was recently named Entrepreneur of the Year by the 2009 BC Business Awards.
