IMW to Supply Equipment for TransLink Expansion

IMW Industries, under contract to Clean Energy, is supplying additional compression equipment to TransLink’s natural gas bus operations in Port Coquitlam, BC. The expansion marks a significant increase in the capacity of the longtime CNG station, originally provided by IMW in 1991 to fill 25 buses. The expanded system will be able to service up to 200 CNG buses.

Steve Steinebach, Canadian sales manager, commented that CNG bus fleets are a significant part of IMW’s global business. "The widespread adoption of CNG has been largely due to the significant fuel cost savings and roughly 25% greenhouse gas reductions, compared to diesel," he added.

TransLink's CNG fuelling station has logged approximately 26,000 operating hours since its inception, displacing nearly 40 million liters of diesel. Their move to expand CNG fuelling operations is part of a growing North American trend to implement CNG in the face of high gasoline and diesel costs as well as emissions reduction goals for fleets. Worldwide, CNG is sold at 14,500 stations and used by almost 10 million natural gas vehicles.
